Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen “Life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.  If one’s “Life force energy” is low, and then we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.  It is a simple, natural and safe method of healing.

I decided to get into reiki after my daughter said to me one day “what do you do for you mum?”. When I thought about it, I did very little for myself. My life revolved around a 9-5 job, keeping the house running and helping my husband with his business. I didn’t actually spend any time doing something for myself, something that I was really passionate about. I started out going to craft fairs selling gemstone jewellery but quickly realised my love of reiki. I decided to look into reiki as it was something that really intrigued me. Being able to help others is a big passion of mine and in January this year, I took the plunge and decided to go self-employed. I have just acquired a centre on Spawd Bone Lane in Knottingley.
